I purchased 2 embossing folders and 1 etching die.

I have just embossed 2 blanks, one Vintaj and one I received as a RAK.

The finished piece is not showing up too well but it was embossed, painted with white paint, alcohol inks dripped on then sanded and finally coated with Glossy Accents.

I am trying to complete a Scrapbook I started a long time ago as you can see by the year.

It was my first visit to CHA.

We made easel cards on Saturday at Stamp Club. I need to add some embellishments yet.

Tag Kimono

You will need 6 identical tags. I cut mine from the Sizzix Tag Scallop 38-0945 original die.

Ink up your tags or cut from coloured card. I have used plain tags for the instructions below.

I used Ranger Distress Inks on the completed tag. First ink up with your chosen colour I used Broken China. then I stamped paisley and flourish stamps with Faded Jeans and Dusty Concord. Finally I used a Gold inkpad and over stamped with another flourish stamp.

Step 1 - Take two tags and overlap as shown above by about 1/2 inch and glue them together.

Step 2 -Take 2 more tags and fold them both in half and glue behind the first 2 tags as shown above.

Step 3 - Flip the whole thing over as shown above.

Step 4 - Take the final 2 tags and line up the holes then arrange them as shown above and glue in position.

Step 5 - Flip the kimono over to the front. It should look something like the above picture. Fold the bottom tag upwards using the bottom of the tag at then top as your guideline.

Step 6 - Set eyelets in the bottom and side tags and add fibres and beads.I also added some fabric flowers to over the holes in the tags both back and front as shown.

My camera was on the wrong setting and I couldn't face re-doing them.

I made some more shaving foam backgrounds and used food colouring.

Very happy with the results.

I am working on the lounge floor in front of the fire. I have cut, inked and added collage bits to my suitcase book pages. I have to sort out my photos next.

In case you were wondering about my Hollywood tin well this is what's in it. My H2O Collection. I bought the tin a year ago in a gift shop in Hollywood.

The lighting wasn't right on this photo but it is a page I did in my art journal. The Poppies were made from book pages. I painted them with H2O's The Poppy Red H2O was too dark I thought so I painted another reddish colour on the top. I am practising drawing for my next page:-)

A work in progress.

Made the box at Vicky Stampers on Saturday

Worked on it yesterday adding the pocket in the lid, monacle etc.

More work to be done including decorating the book pages.

My Grandson made a gift box/carrier from a cereal box.

We made some finger puppets too.

This is as far as we have got with the puppet theatre as he is back at school now.

Made The Gingerbread Man but his little 2 year old sister thought it was also for eating and it is full of teeth marks. LOL

The workdesk is in the kitchen today for a fast clean up after I showed my 2 year old GD Yasmine how to stamp. She has taken to this in an amazing way. Good job I kept my kids stamping kit. I think it was made by Waddingtons and the inks are still good. Amazing.

Finally finished January pages. I had a lot of fun planning and making my pages.

I chose blue and white Wintry colours.

Now I have to think about February's pages.

I decided to make a journal a sort of a diary. I added paint with an old credit card (my favourite way).

I used stencils and masks with white paint. Next step was spritzing with Mica Sprays. Then I stamped and used a letter stencil for January. I have punched some squares which will be the next step.

One side of my desk. I recently added another tier to my blending tool spinner and bought some inkpad storage from a friend. I could do with at least another 2.

I managed to adhere some of my punched squares before the children came. School holidays means I am baby sitting a 2 year old GD and a 10 year old GS. The problem that comes with this is the little one wants to do what her big brother is doing. He is making a puppet theatre so I gave him paints and a box which granddad had altered. The little one had a water brush and paint and an apron that drowned her.

A good time was had by all. Then the little one found her cousins were going ice skating. Scroll down to see how well she did.

I will post photos of our puppet theatre when we have finished it. We have made finger puppets and I bought some on Ebay as well.

Used the Drunken Glue tech but Silver AI does not work well.

Tim made some leaves from his Kraft Glassine. I do not have any so I tried the bag from a box of cereal. I used 3 colours of AI's then added pearlex. When I find my leaf die I will cut some out.

I am back from Africa and this is my desk today. I had a shipment of the Winter Distress Inks so opened one for myself to play with.

Home made tissue tape.

are you asking 'How?'

Well I had some micropore tape with me on holiday in case my pain patch came loose while swimming.

I looked at it and thought Tissue Tape.

I stuck 2 pieces on my craft sheet and stamped the top one. The one below is coloured first with my new DI then stamped.

I was hoping to post these last week but the internet in Africa is slow.

Anyhow we enjoyed beading by the pool. I made an ankle bracelet and necklace.

Wednesday again. Late posting today as I have started using pain patches and I am trying to get used to them so not much has changed on my desk as I am crafting in the living room. I wish I had thought of labelling my baskets like Julia. I get a load of stuff out for one project and lately it is not getting put back.

I had collected some Lucy ephemera over the years and read her autobiography a few months ago. I used to watch the show after school in the 60's. You can still catch her on Youtube.

Here we are again for the Wednesday Dash. Today I have been crafting in the kitchen. I cut loads of pages out of a roll of canvas. I set up my spray booth and had a blast. My hands were inky too and I have some lovely colourful paper towels.

The lighting is not too good in the kitchen. The pages are very colourful. They are ready for painting, stamping, inking, collaging and writing. I made some covers but cannot locate the photo at the moment.

I bought a canvas kit for a friend and on inspection when I got it home there was a tear in the canvas so I kept it and glued some book pages on with gel medium. When that dried I painted it with Gesso.

The next step was using my Broken China Distress Stain followed by Picket Fence.

It is drying while I plan my layout.

Where did the last week go as I cannot believe it is WOYWW day.

This was my desk this morning and I have been having a play with some new toys.

Finished.

I used one layer from the pack and drew around the base layer on some white card. Cut that out then added some self adhesive foil tape. Next I ran that through the Cuttlebug using a Steampunk embossing folder and went over the whole thing with black alcohol ink. I glued all my stash on with Glossy Accents and decided to add a TH Swivel Clasp so it can be hung in my art room.

I love these Printer Trays.

Here we are again for the usual Wednesday Work Desk snoop.

I have finished a project that took me hours.

It will be on my Demo table at Port Sunny on Saturday so if you are there you can inspect it more closely.

This example showcases my Alice Designs. It is very pink. I used Distress Inks to colour my flag tags and for the stamping. Both sides of the tags are decorated. It took real planning to get this right but I am very happy with it.

ALTERED HOUSE 1/10/2011

This was todays project at stamp club. My theme was childhood.

I made some antique wall paper with Cuttlebug embossing folders and Distress Inks. The little dollies were from a set belonging to my youngest daughter from the 1980's. I used some old lotto game pieces and spare items from my dolls houses including left over sticky back carpet.

The final stage was adding Tim Holtz Tissue tape and inking with Antique Linen.

I was etching last week and here are my pieces. I painted them with a Turquoise dabber and then sanded them.

I have done some more work on my sewing themed Altered Dresser. It is not quite where I want it to be yet. I need something for the left side of the teacup pin cushion too.

Butterfly Project

Today at Vickie Stampers Stamp Club we made butterflies for the exhibition planned for 2012 at The Holocaust Museum, Houston, Texas. They are collecting 1.5 million hand made butterflies to memorialise the 1.5 children that perished in The Holocaust.

I will be making more over the coming weeks as I want to try out different stamps, Die Cuts and styles. Most of the ones I made today were stamped and embossed on backgrounds I had made previously and all have beaded bodies.

Pavel died in Oswiecim (Polish) or Auschwitz (German) in Southern Poland.

I went to Auschwitz in the 1990's and not even a bird flies over there. It is deathly quiet
with a sense of eariness.

Made a little progress on my board book. It is almost ready for adding the images. I got sidetracked with unexpected baby sitting.

I made a puppet for the baby (she has a broken leg) Her older brother made a Red Riding Hood puppet with a kewl basket. The baby saw it and asked for a bag and shoooooes. LOL. So she has boots and a bag. We had a lot of fun with paper, straws and pipe cleaners.

A Trip to East Lancashire

First I bought a few flowers for my maternal grandparents grave.

My Daughter and granddaughter on the Roman Bridge, Swanside, Downham, Lancashire. A local beauty spot where we had many picnics as a child.

The very large table at Stonyhurst College where Oliver Cromwell supposedly slept in all his armour at the time of the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

This was Arthur Conan Doyles Desk (author of Sherlock Holmes) at Stonyhurst College. Can you see where he carved A Doyle. He was very friendly with a boy named Watson but not with another boy called Moriarty.

Started a small shadow box (bottom left) and distressing a board book ready for altering.

I took the workshop at Vickie Stampers and this was one of the projects.

The cover is a large tag. We did some bleach stamping then coloured those areas with inks DTP style. Then we sponged on metallic paints using masks, stencils and punchinella.

I chose a steampunk theme.

Today we went to Little Comberton in Worcestershire to search the graveyard for my husbands ancestors. Many of the headstones were difficult to read due to erosion but this one is his Gt Gt grandfather William Clemens.

Some more new units. I have all my craft books and project folders here. I still haven't filled all my drawers and I need a labelling machine now so I can find things.

T Shirt/Fabric Stamping

Today I went to Vickie Stampers stamp club

It was great fun

Here we have exhibit one where I used art text stamps. All the stamping was done with various fabric paints.

A close up but the colours do not look as rich. The metal embellishments have a brass finish which does not show up either.

I made this hanging this morning with Die cuts and

Tims idea-ology range. I would have shown more of my desk but there is hardly room to get to it. I have ordered a Triple Stacker Unit from storage4crafts. It will be a couple of weeks till it arrives but I can't wait to get organised.

The Kings Speech

I went to Burnley to see The Queens Mill. This is featured in the award winning film The Kings Speech.

It is well worth a visit as there is a lot to see especially the Engine Room.

The mill had 1000 working looms in it's hey day. Now there are just 300.

It was very noisy and the weavers soon lear

ned to Me-Maw which consisted of lip reading and hand signs. My grandmother worked in a Mill and she used to tell me stories about life in the mill. I have some fabric that she wove in her younger days. Sadly she died in 1996 aged 96.

Below I am sat at a hand loom. In the 19th century many people had these in their cottages.

The exhaust fell off my car as I drove into Burnley. Expensive day out.

Port Sunlight 14th May

Well the show is over and here are a few photos of the day. It was great to see everyone again. Thanks to all who stopped by. I am shattered with all the packing, setting up taking down and re-packing to come home where everything has to be put back in the studio.

One of my samples was the Tim Holtz configuration box. I used a lot of old game pieces. Great fun to make and I have plans for more of these.

I was using the new Distress Stains and Distress Inkpads for a resist technique on watercolour paper. I gave all the tags away.

Vickie Stampers 7th May

I had a lovely day at Vickie Stampers Stamp Club in Warrington. 2 great projects by our Tutor Jo of Jozart Designs. Jo is a designer for my Stamp Line.

The first project was a lovely decorated folded envy and card. The Hearts interlock making this a lovely gift card.

The other project shown here is a heart shaped gift box. I coloured it with distress stain in Broken China. It is over stamped with Distress ink. The closure is a brad securing 2 decorated punched circles. I need to add a ribbon to finish.

Altered Milk Carton

I have had difficulty getting in my craft room with all the alterations going on but I managed this project. I made a tote from a 6 pint milk carton. After I cut it down I used Ranger's alcohol inks to colour it. Then I started to decorate with bling, lace trimmings chipboard alphabets and other findings. I cut the bird from an offcut of the milk carton from a TH die. I used A.I's to colour it and a gem for the eye. It now holds my Distress Stains.

I was experimenting with a technique for a swap. We had to oil some copy paper. I used an eco friendly baby oil.

I did try this years ago as it looks like faux parchment.

I stamped it first with memento London Fog ink. The idea is to add paint and crumple, oil again and crumple, oil the reverse and crumple. The result is that you send up with very soft paper that feels like fabric. It can be stitched if you so desire. Below are a couple of samples I played about with. Difficult to get in my craft room at the moment as the dining room which is adjacent is having a new floor. The room was cleared for this and Himself put stuff in my craft room. I am still working in my travel journal.

Another double page spread I have been working on. I used Distress inks for the background and used various stamps that fitted the Shakespeare Theme. I used some Shakespeare thematic postal stamps, a clip from a children's vintage book and a colour it yourself postcard of Elizabethan costume that I bought years ago in London. See keep it long enough and you have a reason to use it. LOL

Not much new as I have been organising in between waiting for things to dry. Lost 2 Steampunk UM's which I needed. Yes I know it is chaos but I only seem to be able to work in chaos within a 6 inch square or less. Hopefully I will have more art next week to showcase as my new stamps will be ready on Friday. Yeah. I have been working on my Corset Book that I started earlier this year at Vickie Stampers. I haven't decided on how to do the closure yet. I made the Grungy Flower by cutting some flowers with my TH die out of some book pages. I crumpled them and swiped with Vintage Photo DI ink. Spritzed with water, dried with my heat tool and added some pink acrylic paint with my fingers. Layered them and glued them and then I scrunched the whole thing up. I wasted too much time today looking for my Distress Inks. How can one lose a whole box of them. Duh.

Shaving Foam Marbling Tutorial

Step 1 Add shaving foam to a paper plate or shallow dish.

Spread it out smoothly.

Add some drops of ink, 3 colours works very well.

Use a skewer to drag the inks through the foam till you are happy with the result.

Try drawing 'S' shapes for a different look.

Place cardstock onto the inked foam and pat gently.

Peel back the cardstock and scrape off the foam.

Wipe off the rest of the foam with kitchen roll.

Continuing with the Shakespeare theme I created a double spread in my journal.

I used mica sprays for the background and over stamped with a script stamp using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

The ladies are stamped on Shaving Foam marbled backgrounds.

I bought a Shakespeare kit from a car boot a couple of years ago that had some stamps with it so used those in between.

Last week I was in Shakespeare

country and was inspired to

finish my Origami Accordion Book

The 10 tags which slot into the pockets.

I have used Shakespeare's Heroine stamps from The Stampsmith

Note I have not photographed the mess I made whilst creating the book.

Instructions for Accordion Book

Supplies
5 - 8 x 8inch scrapbook papers.
10 tags 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches
2 pieces of mount board for covers
Paper to cover mountboard

Instructions
Lay a sheet of scrapbook paper on work surface in a diamond shape.
Fold in half vertically from corner to corner.
Find the centre on the folded line and mark with a pencil.
Fold left and right corners to the centre mark.
All folds should be parallel

Fold right hand and left hand corners to the pencil mark. Open.

Fold top and bottom corners to the pencil mark. Leave folded.

Your page should look like the illustration below.

Fold the remaining 4 papers in the same manner.

To assemble the book lay the papers on your work surface.

Starting with the last page no 5 glue the left hand triangle only to the right hand triangle of page no 4.

Repeat this process of gluing only the triangles with all the remaining pages.

On page no 1 and page no 5 fold back the triangles and glue in place.

Cut your mountboard to the size of the rectangle shapes and pages 1 and 5.

Cover the mountboard with your chosen paper.

Glue the mountboard pieces to your assembled pages.

Finally decorate your tags and slip into the pockets of the pages.

Shakespeare lived next door but it was demolished. There is excavation work going on and archeaologists along with volunteers are digging on the site

It has not been a good week as my FIL died last week and we have the funeral tomorrow. I have been sorting some items out just to keep busy ready for finishing some projects. My desk is cluttered and I am working on the floor in the lounge doing some journalling. Hopefully I will have some art made for next week. More cards that I finished off and are on my desk from a class by Tsukineko. Look at the charms aren't they cute, we assembled them at one of the booths.

A journal I made on Hampton Arts using Smooch Inks. I learned a great technique just dripping them into water stir then drop your cardstock onto it. You get an awesome marbling effect.

This week I am in California as I am attending CHA at the weekend.

I am staying with a good friend who has a retail business.

I am sleeping on a blow up bed in a stock room so I did a little shopping before I went to sleep. The three photos below are of my 'bedroom'. Scroll down to the desk.

I am back and I went to The Gambia.

I have caught a virus so not crafting till I feel better.

I stroked the crocodile and it was dry and lumpy for those that asked. I will be back when I get over this bug. My throat is like sandpaper:-((((

Where am I

I have shaken hands with a crocodile. Yes it is a real one, they have been fish fed so not interested in humans. LOL

I have eaten the best fish and chips here on the Atlantic coast in my whole life.

Close up of the Spellbinders album I made at one of their workshops.

I made a few changes. I added book rings instead of the ribbons and some more embellishments.

Japan Day October 17th

Today Jo and I attended The Japan Day as vendors at The Midland Hotel Manchester.

We had a couple of tables booked. Jo worked hard on Make and Takes which proved extremely popular. We were busy all day and it was great to meet up with friends from some of the Yahoo lists and others from Blog Land. I received a lovely post it note wall hanging from LizzyBobs. Thanks again.

It's Japan day on Sunday and I am halfway through an Origami book using some of our new Oriental stamps.
I have lots to do packing items for the event and I am not getting anywhere fast because I had food poisoning at the weekend. I spent 4 hours in A and E in hospital in Liverpool:-(((

Here I am still making ATC's to swap at The Port Sunny show on Saturday.

I did a little work on the mini dresser and decided to go with a Vintage Sewing theme.

The little teacup is to make a pin cushion.

Another view of the mini dresser. I added some Rusty Hinge to the dresser but it doesn't show up.

I am also looking for something unusual for a drawer handle that is sewing related.

I will have more time after the show to search my stash.
