Kresy (Vilno) to The Gulag Siberia. WW2. Anders Army Monte Cassino

This isn't exactly crafting as yet but I wanted to post the message and photograph so Google will pick it up.
My grandfather bottom left was Polish.
On the right is Tadeuz Wojcik his best friend
His name was Antoni Kazmir Meildun and he was born in 1916 in Vilno.
He was in the Polish army and arrested and deported to Siberia in 1940. He was in 2 different camps in Komi region in 1941, camp no 501  URDOMA and camp 564 MIEZOG. In 1942 he got amnesty and went through The Persian (now Iran) Corridor to Palestine and became part of General Anders army in The 2nd Polish Corps. He fought at the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy and was awarded a medal. After the war he could not return to his family in Poland as he would have been executed. I am now trying to get all his records from Russia, Poland and the Ministry of Defence.
I will be creating a decorative journal of his life when I receive the documents.
I am also hoping that someone may read this that has knowledge of the POW camps in Siberia, or who also has a father or grandfather who may have served in Anders Army and knew of Antoni.
Thanks also to The Kresy-Siberia yahoo group for all your help.
My grandfather was very clever as he used to make silver rings from teaspoons. He also copied and made military ribbons which he used to sell.
He also spent time with the Zigani Gypsies.

WOYWW 164

Wednesday again, just about as it is almost midnight and I have been busy putting together more Ancestor photos on cards adding names, events, years etc There is so much to sort out so I had to craft on the floor today.
We share our workspaces on a Wednesday so hop over to Julia's for some crafty snooping.
A sampling of some I completed today.

WOYWW 163

My Wednesday desk. I am late posting as my camera battery was exhausted. So here is my desk. I made some Shabby Chic backgrounds using fluid chalks. Remember those? To snoop other desks go to The Stamping Ground.
A friend was clearing out some stuff and gave me some Foam Core Board. DH cut it for me and I have mounted my Vertical Verses stamp set so at least I know which one I am using instead of trying to read backwards.
I will be at the Show on Sunday at Leeds Grammar School wearing my WOYWW badge

This is my workspace today. Still working on my Family History cards. Scope other desks and workspaces here at The Stamping Ground. Be brave and show us yours.
My ATC's for a swap on the Inkyrangers group. Thanks to Jo for the inspiration. I had a lot of backgrounds made while demming the technique a few years ago at at various stamp shows with Canned air and Alcohol Inks.
Tim Holtz has a video on Youtube.

Yesterday I took my youngest Granddaughter Yasmine to Fairhaven Lake. I wanted to see The Art Bubbles. Yasmine wanted me to hire a boat and go and pop them.
